The barn

The Dutch Barn takes the western half of the range, so it gets the afternoon and evening light through the big glazed gable. The ground floor is one long room — kitchen at one end, sofas and the burner at the other, a table in the middle that seats all ten without anyone perching.

Bedrooms are upstairs under the curve of the roof, apart from one on the ground floor with a wet room next to it, which is the one to ask for if stairs are a problem.

Sleeping

• Two doubles, one with an ensuite shower room
• Two twin rooms, beds can be pushed together
• One ground-floor double with a wet room alongside
• Cot and highchair available — say when you book
